Crosby Street Hotel

Monday, January 11th, 2010 | Interior Design | No Comments

Have you heard of the Crosby Street Hotel? The hotel is located on a quiet cobbled street in the heart of New York’s vibrant SoHo neighbourhood between Prince and Spring Streets. The hotel’s 86 beautifully designed bedrooms and suites with high ceilings and floor length windows are designed by Kit Kemp. Using a clever combination of colour and texture, modern and antique furniture and original art she created “interiors with a fresh contemporary English style”. Love the fabrics and colors.

“Childhood is a journey, not a race.”

Since we are having a little baby on the way kids rooms are on my mind. I did a little research and here are my favorites. The challenge now: How do you combine a girl’s baby nursery with the taste of a four year old boy since they will be sharing the room?

I love the subtle colors and textures in these two photographs. This could be a nice relaxing palette for a room.

The end is where we start from.”

From Russia with Love

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009 | Interior Design | 1 Comment

I have always loved russian costumes, Baba Yaga and I when I was little I admired the russian girls with their big ribbons in their hair. I love the fairy tale like architecture of the Moscow Kremlin. Now I’m getting sucked in by russian inspired interior design.

Vogue just featured the home of Charles and Olya Thompson (a textile designer and former dancer from Moscow) in Brooklyn NY. I love the antique furniture, ethnic fabrics and samovars and the their three girls are just so adorable in their matching dresses.

Now I really have to plan a trip to russia and practice speaking russian!

A peek at her fabulous, decadent interiors

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009 | Interior Design | No Comments

Kelly Wearstler shares a peek at her fabulous, decadent interiors of her Beverly Hills home.

“Wearstler opens the neoclassical gates into an epic realm, offering an intimate look into a 1926 James Dolena estate in Beverly Hills with an opulent Georgian-style main mansion, expansive guesthouse, gardens and grounds. A Paul Williams Bel-Air masterpiece is re-imagined as a textural metropolitan oasis with strong design details and an unexpected palette that reignites the mansion’s classic bones.”

The Spanish Riding School in Vienna

Monday, June 29th, 2009 | Interior Design | No Comments

I admit, I’m not just obsessed with castles, I also love horses. And I don’t even ride horses. I just love their beauty and physique. I’m still mad at myself for turning down the opportunity to have my own white stallion at the stable of a family friend. I was to nervous and said no.

Last year I visited the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. What a treat! Absolutely beautiful. Just look at these pictures.

The Highest Level of Equitation in Stylish Baroque Tradition

Vienna’s Spanish Riding School is the world’s oldest and only riding school that cultivates classical equitation. It owes its name to the Spanish horses that formed the foundation of the riding school in its early days.

Emperor Karl VI instructed Josef Emanuel Fischer von Erlach to build the magnificent Winter Riding School in Vienna’s Imperial Hofburg Palace from 1729 to 1735. The monarch’s portrait still hangs in the white Baroque hall where the riders of the Spanish Riding School train the horses and perform.

The splendid building provides a one-of-a-kind setting for training and presenting the white Lipizzan stallions.

“Evoking a sense of garden party glamour, delicate painterly florals accent romantic layers of cornflower blue and crisp white.”

I love the color palette. Who doesn’t love crisp white and blue in the summer? I also like the wicker bed and the garden china cabinet, the sisal rug and white china. For more Ralph Lauren home style go to www.ralphlaurenhome.com and don’t miss the beautifully styled videos.
